Book number 21, Go Outside!

Current bid for this book stands at £25 A book featuring 21 of my own poems all about being outside in nature.

Each poem is handwritten and the book is bound together with coptic binding.

It measures 15 x 21cm with 24 pages.

A simple concertina book.

This is the front cover.

This is the open book. Each page has a cut out centre to display a card feather. Each feather has a word of peace printed onto it.

Measuring 22 x 7.5cm.

Book number 19, Inner silence

The simplest of books just for displaying Thich Nhat Hanh's lovely quote, 'inner silence does not require external silence'.

This is the front cover, with paper that is photocopied squares of marbled fabric.

Book number 18, Borrower's Maroon

Another book for Borrowers, measuring just 3 x 8cm.

The maroon paper is from Namaste, a shop in the UK that imports beautiful handmade papers, furniture etc. from Thailand and India.

There are 136 pages made from fine rice paper.

This is a tiny book for Borrowers with an assortment of quirky pages made from photocopied paper with random printing and marbled fabric.

It measures merely 3 x 3cm and has 166 tiny pages.

Book number 16, Mind is a great storyteller

This book features one of my poems, written in Plum Village last June. The last page is cut out to feature the final line. The covers and pages are decorated with decoupage.

 

The front cover is decorated with patterned paper pieces. Stitching at the left hand side is coptic binding, which is how the book is assembled.

 

This shows some of the inner pages and the cut out on the last page.

It is 15.5 x 21.5cm with 12 pages and the poem is handwritten.

Book number 15, Poems from the 21 day retreat Plum Village 2014

This book is a collection of the poems I wrote over 21 days whilst on a special retreat at Plum Village in France (home of Thich Nhat Hanh). Every alternate year they hold a 21-day retreat and this was first time I had been, either to this or to such a long retreat. It was completely magical despite the inevitable downsides such as snorers and mice! It was also very inspiring for me and I wrote 24 poems.

Slight theme going on following on from the previous post. There are 5 copies of this, the content is the same in each it is just the colour of the cover that differs.

 Here are the five covers made from a lovely card that looks like hand made paper with silk threads in it. The card is graded so the colour changes slightly. The colours are lilac, green, beige (pale orange), purple, and orange.

Book number 14, Sangha poems

This book is a small collection of my poems that I have written since 2012 and they all directly relate in some way to the York Sangha, the group that I meet regularly and practice meditation with. I originally made this as a Christmas present for those who were present on the last evening of our Sangha meetings in December. There are 4 copies of this, the content is the same in each it is just the colour of the cover that differs.

 Here are the covers made from a lovely card that looks like hand made paper with silk threads in it. (There were 5 but one appears to be lost so now there are 4!) The card is graded so the colour changes slightly. The colours are orange, purple, yellow and lilac.

Book number 13, Green envelopes

This book is a quirky little number, a place to keep your special ideas. Each page has an envelope in it to hold a secret, or something you want to keep safe.

Here you can see both the front cover and the open book with some of the envelopes, which alternate between book page envelopes with text on and green envelopes.
It is 11 x 7.5cm and has 16 pages. Very cute and quite unusual!
